John A. Bobango is Chief Manager of the Memphis based law firm, Farris Bobango, PLC, which has offices in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee. John’s practice concentrates in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, financing, securities, private equity, and venture capital. He was selected the 2015 Memphis Mergers & Acquisitions “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers of America, named among the Best Lawyers of America in the field of Corporate Law and Mergers & Acquisitions Law, the Super Lawyers of the Mid-South, the Top 100 Lawyers in Tennessee and the Top 50 Lawyers in Memphis.
John served on the Memphis City Council from 1996 to 2000 and formerly served as chairman of the Joint City and Shelby County Community Redevelopment Agency. He has been very involved in the community with numerous organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Triumph Bancshares and Madonna Learning Center and Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Streets Ministries.
John has been very involved in his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity, formerly serving as International President. John is a former member of the Board of Directors of the University of Memphis School of Law Alumni Board (President), Memphis Bar Association, Economic Club of Memphis, Neighborhood Housing Opportunities, State of Tennessee Enterprise Zone Board, Riverfront Development Corporation, and Make-A-Wish Foundation. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Arkansas State University, his Juris Doctor degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis and his Master of Law in Taxation from the University of Florida School of Law. John is married to Lisa who is also an attorney and they have a son, Allen, and daughter, Mary Lauren.
