Triumph is proud to commend our Assistant Vice President and Director of Human Resources, Catherine Duncan, on her recent election to serve as the Chairman of the Associate Board for Make-A-Wish Mid-South.
Catherine was recently appointed to serve as the Chairman of the Associate Board for Make-A-Wish Mid-South for the 2017-2018 year. This is far from the first time Catherine has made Triumph proud of her work with Make-A-Wish, though. Last year, she raised $10,000, and over the past two years, she has helped plan and grant numerous wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions with the ultimate goal of bringing them joy, courage, and the optimism they need to take on what are oftentimes very taxing medical treatments.
“As the chairman of the Make-A-Wish Associate Board 2017-2018, I am responsible for presiding over Associate Board “AB” meetings and Executive Committee meetings. I serve as a liaison between the Associate Board and the MAW Board and Staff. I ensure that the AB members fulfill their responsibilities and monitor all the financial planning and fundraising for the Board. The Associate Board directs annual fundraising events to assist with wish-granting,” said Catherine when asked to describe the responsibilities in her new role.
“Five and a half years ago my family experienced a horrible tragedy which resulted in my husband, Frank, losing his life and my son, Patrick, almost losing his. The Mid-South community including firefighters, doctors and nurses at LeBonheur, friends and family were all so supportive of my boys and I. It took an entire village to help get us back on our feet again. I wanted to find an organization where I could help those in need in our community. Make-A-Wish Mid-South gives hope to children living in our community with life-threatening illnesses by granting wishes,” stated Catherine.
President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Mid-South Casey Kaufman Tansey had the following to say about Catherine:
“Over the last two years, Catherine has played a central role in the success of the Make-A-Wish Associate Board. The Board is a group of young professionals focused on raising funds and awareness for Make-A-Wish Mid-South. In addition, she is an active Volunteer Wish Granter and has been selected from a group of her peers to serve as the Chairman of the Associate Board for the coming year. We are grateful for Catherine’s leadership and continued commitment to serving children with life-threatening medical conditions in the Mid-South.”
Catherine has also included her Triumph Team members in her efforts to serve Make-A-Wish, recruiting folks to help raise money for their holiday fundraiser, Season of Wishes, and helping organize fundraising for other annual events, such as Wine for Wishes.
We are proud to call Catherine one of our team members and consider her a priceless asset to Triumph. If you would like to learn more about the outstanding work that Make-A-Wish Mid-South does, please click here.
