In a previous story, we outlined the continued efforts of Rachel Culver, a breast cancer survivor and Triumph employee. Since we published that story, and to date, Rachel’s team has raised over $5,700 as part of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk held October 15, 2012 – a more than 75% increase over last year.

An image of Triumph’s Rachel Culver, a cancer survivor, was included in one of the NFL’s “A Crucial Catch” public service announcements, airing nationwide with New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees.

In the public service announcement, Brees talks about how proud he is to wear pink as part of the NFL’s campaign. Rachel is one of two cancer survivors featured in a photo as Brees notes that “one in two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer turns to the American Cancer Society for support.”

The 30-second spots are running on national TV and featured on YouTube and numerous other websites. Rachel appears in a photo from the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Memphis October 2011 from the American Cancer Society archives. It is not the first time she has represented breast cancer awareness on TV or video. She was interviewed on Fox 13’s Good Morning Memphis to promote last year’s Making Strides walk, and recently appeared in a Making Strides promotional video.

“I’ve been overwhelmed at the response, and was pleasantly surprised to see myself in a national TV commercial with a Superbowl-winning quarterback,” Rachel said. “It’s not about me, of course. It’s about helping others avoid what I had to go through, and Triumph has been unbelievably supportive.”

Triumph Bank CEO/President Will Chase added, “Rachel’s appearance in this announcement is a real treat for all of us who are football fans. In a way, it caps off her hard work and inspirational journey, which is making a real difference.”
