Triumph In The News

ONE TRIUMPH EMPLOYEE’S STORY OF HEROISM AND TRAGEDY

An October 11 story appeared in The Commercial Appeal about a recent house fire involving an act of heroism on the part of one firefighter and his engine company. That night, firefighter Brent Waddell was named Firefighter of the Year at the Memphis Fire Department’s annual awards ceremony, and Engine Company 21A was honored as Company of the Year.

The awards were handed out in recognition of their efforts to save Patrick and Frank Duncan when called to a fire at their home; the home of Triumph’s own Catherine Duncan. Thankfully, Catherine and her young sons Thomas, and Patrick are recovering. Yet Frank, Catherine’s husband, tragically passed away in the hospital from smoke inhalation.

Catherine is Banking Officer, Human Resources Officer at Triumph Bank. Her husband was a nurturing and devoted father and carpenter by profession. He was also an avid outdoorsman who proudly had hiked the entire Appalachian Trail. Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to Catherine, her children and family for this most unfortunate loss. In addition, we salute Brent Waddell and Engine Company 21A for their heroic efforts, as well as all firefighters and first responders everywhere.
