Rick Masson to Oversee Merger Between Memphis and Shelby County Suburban Schools
Rick Masson, a longtime member of Triumph’s Board of Directors, has been assigned as “special master” to oversee the merger of Memphis and suburban Shelby County Schools. The merger is set to be finalized summer 2013.
According to a March 6, 2013 story in The Commercial Appeal, District Judge Samuel “Hardy” Mays specifically selected Masson. As the story suggests, he is to serve as a liaison between Mays and the unified Shelby County Board of Education to ensure the merger is moved forward properly and in a timely manner.
Masson has previously held several high-ranking public and private positions in the Memphis community. These include Executive Director of the Shelby Farms Conservancy; Chief Administrative Officer and Finance Director for the City of Memphis; Utility Board Chairman for MLGW; and Executive Director of the Plough Foundation. The CA story quoted former County Commission Chairman Mike Ritz as saying this was an “excellent choice,” and School Board Chairman Billy Orgel who said, “Rick is a positive force in this community, and I believe he will be beneficial to the process.”
All of us at Triumph Bank are very proud to have Rick on our team and wish him all the best in this new venture.
